08-02-10:

At approx 2:50 pm an Inglis Police Officer responded to a residence on Neeld St in reference to a domestic distrubance.  Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the victim who advised that she got into a verbal argument with the suspect.  During the arguement the suspect started pushing the victim and grabbed her around the neck in an attempt to choke her.  The Officer did observe red marks on the victims neck.  The Officer then made contact with the suspect.  While questioning the suspect, she told the IPD Officer that she did push the victim during the arguement.  The suspect was later arrested for domestic battery and transported to the Levy County Jail.

08-03-10: 

At approx 10:20 am an Inglis Police Officer responded to the Dollar General in reference to a retail theft.  Upon arrival the Officer made contact with store employees who stated that the suspects (identified as a white female) had taken several items from the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise.  The suspect concelled the merchandise in her baby stroller prior to leaving the store.  After the suspect exited the store she met up with a second white female and they both went to an open field, where they were stopped by the IPD Officer.  After being questioned the stolen merchandise was recovered and both suspects were placed under arrest for retail theft.  The total value of the stolen items was $209.00.  Both suspects were transported to the Levy County Jail for booking.

08-04-10:

Several Inglis Police Department Officers attended the National Night Out 2010 event last night.  The event was held at the city's community center.  The community was able to meet their Officers along with members of the Levy County Sheriff's Office, Inglis Fire Department, and Levy County Paramedics.  During the event there were several booths set up for the citizens to visit and get valuable information for crime prevention and child protection.  Also there was food and drinks provided to the public.  The Inglis Police Department also conducted a K-9 demonstration for the citizens to better understand how our K-9 Unit functions to keep drugs off our streets.  The Police Department members that assisted to make this event successful were; Police Chief Dixon, K-9 Officer Swiggett, K-9 Boston, Officer Hilberer, Officer Brown, Officer Goodman, and Administrative Assistant Lorraine Barber.

08-07-10

At approx 7:22 pm an Inglis Police Officer was dispatched to the Citgo Station on US Hwy 19 in reference to a retail theft.  Upon arrival the Officer observed a female exiting the store with several item of food sticking out from her bathing suit.  Upon speaking with the female she gave verbal admission to stealing the items.  The merchandise was recovered from the female and totaled $8.33.  The female was placed under arrest for retail theft and was issued a notice to appear.

08-08-10

At approx 10:30 pm an Inglis Police Officer responded to the area of CR 40W and Hawthorn Dr in reference to a traffic crash.  Upon arrival the Officer observed that a vehicle had struck a utility pole.  The Officer searched the area and was unable to locate the driver.  During the crash investigation the Officer discovered the address of the registered owner of the vehicle and noticed it was a short distance from the crash scene.  The Officer responded to the address and made contact with a white male subject.  While speaking with the subject the Officer noticed a cut on the subjects head.  Upon talking with the subject further the Officer determined that this subject was the driver of the vehicle.  At that time the Officer advised the subject he was under arrest and instructed him to put his hands behind his back.  The subject refused to comply with the Officers instructions.  When the Officer went to place the subject in handcuffs the subject pulled away and attempted to exit the house.  The IPD Officer then deployed his taser to gain control of the subject.  The subject was subsequently handcuffed and placed under arrest.  The subject was charged with resisting arrest and leaving the scene of a traffic crash.  The subject was transported to the Levy County Jail for booking.

08-09-10:

At approx 2:45 pm a K-9 IPD Officer was conducting traffic enforcement.  The Officer stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation.  During the traffic stop the driver and passanger made statements that they had drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.  At that time the K-9 Officer deployed his K-9 which led to an alert on the vehicle.  Upon searching the vehicle, the IPD Officer discovered two pill bottles that contained several pills and a small amounts of marijuana.  The driver and passanger were subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.  Both subjects were then transported to the Levy County Jail for booking.

 08-13-10

At approx 3:30 pm an Inglis Police Sergeant was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of CR 40 East.  The Sergeant stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation.  Upon running the drivers information it was discovered that the drivers license was suspended.  The driver had knowledge that her license was suspended.  At that time the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Levy County Jail for booking.

08-25-10

At approx 4:00 pm an IPD Officer responded to a residence on Maple St in reference to a domestic disturbance.  Upon arrival the Officer made contact with both parties involved.  The Officer spoke with the victim who advised that she and the suspect were fighting over a laptop computer.  During the argument the victim stated that the suspect grabbed her by the arm and struck her on the head with the computer.  The Officer did observe marks on the victim’s right arm.  The Inglis Officer then spoke with the suspect who admitted to arguing with the victim over the computer but denied touching or striking the victim in any way.  The suspect was later placed under arrest for domestic battery and transported to the Levy County Jail for booking.

08-27-10

At approx 5:30 pm The Inglis Police Department served a search warrant on a residence on SE Debra Ave.  The search warrant was to recover stolen property that was taken from a burglary that occurred yesterday.  While the Inglis Officers searched the residence and property for the stolen items, one of the Officers discovered an active Methamphetamine Lab in the back yard of the residence.  At that time the Levy County Drug Task Force was contacted along with the Inglis Fire Department.   After securing the area around the lab the IPD Officers continued their search.  Upon searching a trailer to the rear of the property another active Methamphetamine Lab was discovered by an Officer.  In addition Officers discovered in the same trailer on the coffee table a bag of Methamphetamine which was still on a digital scale.  Two firearms were also discovered in the trailer.  The Officers continued their search and recovered all of the stolen items from the burglary.  The scene was then turned over to the Levy County Drug Task Force so they could break down both labs.  A male from the residence was placed under arrest for trafficking in methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, and dealing in stolen property.  After leaving the scene two Inglis Officers assisted the Levy County Drug Task Force in locating and arresting two other subjects for other drug related charges.  All subjects were transported to the Levy County Jail for booking.

09-03-10

The Inglis Police Department would like to congratulate Officer Brian Hilberer on being selected to be the Departments new Narcotics K-9 Handler.  K-9 Officer Hilberer and his new K-9 partner will undergo several weeks of training to become state certified in narcotic detection.  After completing the training they will hit the streets of Inglis to combat drug activity within our city.  Good luck with your new position.
